outlook add-in What started in 2010 as a proof of concept application, managed to become one of our first products.
We really loved the Priority Inbox feature added to Google's Gmail and thought that something similar would prove very useful to our own Microsoft Outlook Inboxes.
Developing for the Outlook platform can be tedious, but we already had a lot of experience with this environment derived from our work at Asimnia(link), our previous start-up.
We built an indexing algorithm that sorted emails based on their content, how quickly you replyed to that person, number or mails that person sent you, how ofthen you've replied to them, and other relevant bits of data, so that we could prioritize each incomming email.
Tagging all of these mail items using the Outlook API was easy and then all we had to do was create a special search folder that will present all of these items.
We also created three groups: Important and Unread, Flagged and Everything Else, that would better separate the e-mails.
Working with the Outlook API was hard but it presented us with valuable know-how, that we will use in future encounters with clients interested in developing Outlook applications.
