The customer needed an intermediate platform to serve it's production and reporting needs, while it finished a larger project that was going to also serve these needs.

The platform had to be made available in the company's intranet and across all of the company's sites, allowing this way their employee to input daily and weekly production data.

Authentication and Authorization were a must, so our platform had to integrate with the already existing Active Directory setup.

At the management level, there was a constant need to view consolidated production reports across all company levels. YTD reports, Weekly, Monthly or even custom reports where a must for all the company's production verticals.

Licensing was also a problem. As funds were primarily directed to the larger, more important project, we had no funds for Sharepoint or SQL Reporting licenses, we had to deliver reports without the help of such tools.

We started a rapid cycle and development, setting up weekly meetings with the company's consultant - setting goals, and deliverables for the next week and taking the rest of the week to focus on development. We had to work with a tight schedule so being agile was a must.

At that time we used ASP.NET 2.0 to build the platform and we had to integrate our solution with the existing SQL Server.

Reports were needed at five different hierarchical levels, so 'on-the-fly' reporting was not an option as too much time was needed to properly crunch the numbers. As a solution we had to implement an in-house data warehousing solution and makig use of nightly builds in order to produce the needed reports.

We delivered a platform that was used in production for 14 months, by around 300 people and provided the client with a viabile interim solution.
